Breaking: Third Edition of Science Festival “Schlaufaum” Kicks Off with “Why? Why? Healthy?” Theme
The 2022 Science Festival “Schlaufaum” is off to a dynamic start with its third edition, themed “Why? Why? Healthy?” This annual celebration of science, innovation, and community engagement in Münster is slated to run from July 5th to 11th.
What’s On Offer?
In collaboration with the city, the University of Münster, the University Hospital, and the Fachhochschule Münster, the festival will host over 150 lectures, exhibits, and interactive workshops across more than 15 locations in the city. Best of all, every event is free!
Beyond just knowledge sharing, “Schlaufaum” also includes special events like an open-air cinema experience, yoga classes, and pedal boat readings on Lake Aasee.
Kicking Off with a Bang
Opening day, July 5th, will feature a mix of exciting activities including a quiz and talks from mayor Markus Lewe, University Hospital medical directors, and university and college heads. The opening will set the stage for an exciting week of learning and collaboration.
Lovers of hands-on learning can enjoy workshops on first aid basics, while those interested in the intersection of human, animal, and environmental health can listen to Prof. Stephan Ludwig give insights on the topic.
Evergreen Insights
Beyond the immediate festival excitement, the “Schlaufaum” provides a broader platform for community engagement and education. Highlights include.

The Festival Experience

The “Schlaufaum” Community
This year’s festival brings together Münster Marketing, the University of Münster, Fachhochschule Münster, and Münster University Hospital. It is backed by Sparkasse Münsterland Ost and the Alliance for Science, transforming Münster into a metropolis of knowledge for one week.
A Centennial Celebration
The festival also coincides with Münster’s University Hospital celebrating its 100th anniversary. Expect special events and tributes to mark this milestone.
