Salzburg appoints head of women’s football

On Thursday, Red Bull Salzburg appointed Bernd Winkler as head of the women’s football department that was created a few weeks ago. The 43-year-old from Salzburg last worked in scouting within the club for around eight years.

“Our common goal is to create the appropriate structures to bring as many young players from the region to us as possible, to be able to offer them training at a high level and thus allow women’s football to grow sustainably,” said Winkler, himself a former professional at the SCR Altach, among others, quoted.

Austria’s men’s series champions announced their entry into women’s football a few weeks ago. Initially, an U16 team is to be introduced from the 2023/24 season. The first viewing date for the years 2008, 2009 and 2010 will take place on January 19, 2023 in the Salzburg Academy.
