Saudi Arabia’s confidence in Russia.. Abdulaziz bin Salman’s answer at the Government Summit provokes an interaction on Twitter

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The response of the Saudi Energy Minister, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, on Tuesday, to a question regarding the reason for the Kingdom’s confidence in Russia despite its invasion of Ukraine, sparked an interaction on Twitter.

“The goal of OPEC and OPEC Plus is to maintain stability in oil markets, how can you trust a partner who literally destabilizes energy prices, by invading Ukraine?” CNBC anchor, Hadley Gambill, Saudi Energy Minister, asked at the World Government Summit.

Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman replied, “I ask you… who is firing missiles and ballistic missiles on our lands and on Abu Dhabi?”

The Saudi minister added, “Who finances, trains and supplies this body with weapons? He is a member of OPEC… I’ll let you imagine it,” he said.

This clip sparked an interaction on Twitter, as a number of tweeters expressed their admiration for the prince’s intuition and his link to the events in answering the question.

It is noteworthy that Saudi Arabia did not condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and it has close economic relations with Moscow in light of differences with the US administration over increasing oil production.
