Scabies seems stubborn at Résidence Beausite in Moutier. Around ten residents and members of the nursing staff were placed in isolation, according to our information. The first cases of scabies were detected at the beginning of October within the Provost EMS. Contacted, the Moutier Hospital confirms that observations have been made on the skin of several people. However, it has not yet been established that it is scabies, according to the infection prevention manager. Analyzes must be carried out.

Treatment and disinfection

While awaiting the results of the analyses, treatments have been administered to residents and caregivers who present symptoms, i.e. a form of eczema. Moutier Hospital ensures that all floors of the EMS have undergone anti-parasitic disinfection. Last October, the medical director of the Arc Network Alain Kenfak reassured the risks associated with the disease: scabies is not really serious for human health. However, if the presence of the infectious disease is confirmed, it will remain to be known why and how the parasites were able to spread within the Résidence Beausite. /oza
