Lionel Scaloni, coach of the Argentine national team, announced the readiness of Angel Di Maria and Rodrigo de Paul for the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup.
Argentina will clash with Croatia, which had reached the final of the 2018 World Cup, where it lost to France, and settled for the silver medal.
Scaloni was assured of the readiness of the duo, who had recently suffered minor injuries, while he would miss the services of Marcos Acuña and Gonzalo Montiel.
In the press conference introducing the site, the 44-year-old said, “I will not mention the main players in the ranks of Croatia, or their strengths or weaknesses, but we have reached points through which we can harm them.”
Scaloni added, “Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. We will try to give everything on the pitch… If we perform well, we will have an easier way to reach our goal.”
The Argentine coach refused to change his style of play to keep pace with Croatia, stressing, “We have our own system and our own style of play. Of course, in certain situations we need to take our opponents’ style of play into account, but we will not change our usual style.”
Scaloni was asked regarding Luka Modric, the legend of the Croatian national team midfield.
And the former right-back replied, “It was a pleasure to watch him play. He is a role model for many, not only because of his talent, but also because of his behaviour.”
