According to the police, there was a serious trickery on Monday in Salzburg Lehen. A 76-year-old pensioner was contacted by telephone by previously unknown perpetrators and informed regarding a serious traffic accident involving her daughter. Her daughter is said to have caused a fatal traffic accident and is now being held in the prison. But she might have her daughter released on bail. The scammers called the woman on her cell phone and landline at the same time.

According to the press release, one caller posed as a police officer and the other caller as a prosecutor. A supposed bank advisor was also involved, who stated that he would transfer the amount of the deposit back to her account. The fraudsters inquired regarding assets and were able to persuade the victim to hand over numerous gold coins as bail. The gold coins, worth just over a hundred thousand euros, were picked up by an unknown woman at the victim’s front door. The handover went without a conversation.

Shortly following the handover, the situation became clearer to the victim and she called the police. Further investigations follow.
