Las Vegas is set to host a high-stakes clash as WBC junior middleweight champion Sebastian Fundora will put his title on the line against Keith Thurman this October, according to sources that spoke with ESPN on Thursday.

The highly anticipated bout is planned as a PBC on Prime PPV headliner. While the official date and venue remain unconfirmed, reports suggest the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas as the likely host, with October 25th being the targeted date.

Fundora, boasting a record of 23-1-1 with 15 KOs, is fresh off a prosperous title defense against Tim Tszyu, securing a seventh-round stoppage in July. This victory followed their March 2024 encounter where Fundora stepped in to replace an injured Thurman and won by split decision. The rematch saw a decisive finish, with Tszyu retiring before the eighth round.

For Fundora, 27, this fight marks his third title defense and pits him against the man he previously replaced as champion.

Thurman (31-1, 23 KOs), aged 36, has faced a series of injuries. He has only competed twice since his 2019 decision loss to Manny Pacquiao. His most recent performance saw him knock out Brock Jarvis in the third round of their March bout. This contest will be thurman’s second at 154 pounds after a significant reign as welterweight champion from 2016 to 2019.

Boxing Scene initially reported the fight agreement.
