sent message to Pogacar and Roglic

Egan Bernal he is in Colombia already preparing the next season. Despite the fact that there is a long time for his main objectives in the coming months, the Zipaquireño is training with his team to improve everything he can with the aim of returning to his best level, the one that made him champion of the Tour of Francia in 2019.

In an interview with Noticias Caracol, team leader Ineos confirmed that he will run the Tour de France next year. Thus, the Colombian prefers to seek the podium of the most important race in the world, instead of defending the title of the Giro d’Italia that he won this year.

When visualizing what could happen in the next Tour, Egan was excited to put in trouble to the Slovenians Tadej Pogacar and Primoz Roglic, since he considers that he will finally be on an equal footing with them. In the 2020 Tour, Bernal suffered back problems that forced him to retire, while in the Tour of Spain this year he did not have his best performance because he suffered from COVID-19 and his preparation was affected by that situation.

“It’s going to be cool. Next year we are going to meet again on the Tour, with me on equal footing. Pogacar, Roglic, Nairo, ‘Rigo’, Colombians should not be forgotten. It’s going to be a very good race to watch, ”said the Colombian, confirming that in 2022 he will participate in the Tour.

Similarly, Egan gave details of the training he had in Germany a couple of weeks ago, on which he specifically worked on his performance in the time trial. It is clear that the Slovenians are far superior in this modality, so Bernal has the objective of limiting the losses with them in those stages.

The most important thing about the Zipaquireño’s statement is that he confirmed that his back is already much better. “In Germany we were trying to improve the position in the time trial, filing every detail, a few thousandths per kilometer. We are giving it hard, finally we returned to work on the chrono bike, my back is already leaving me ”, he concluded.

It is not yet clear when the next season will start for the Colombian. He and his team are likely to debut next year in March, with some competitions in Europe.
