The match of the seventh round of the Dutch football championship between Waalwijk and Ajax was ended early due to a serious injury to the goalkeeper, the press service of the club from Waalwijk reported.
In the 84th minute of the match, Waalwijk goalkeeper Etienne Vassen was seriously injured and lost consciousness following a collision with Ajax forward Brian Brobbey.
Doctors appeared on the field and began to assist Wassen; the scene of the collision between the players was hidden from video cameras. Wassen’s condition is unclear.
According to the press service of both clubs, the match was completed ahead of schedule with the score 3:2 in favor of Ajax. A decision on the status of the match will be made later.
