Shakib and Mushfiqur battle it out, Bangladesh score better against England

Chittagong: England set a target of 247 runs in the third match of the ODI series once morest Bangladesh. After winning the toss and batting first, Bangladesh were all out for 246 runs in 48.5 overs. The innings of Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim and Najmul Shantro, who scored half-centuries, brought Bangladesh to a better score. Bangladesh’s top scorer is Shakib who scored 75 runs off 71 balls.

After winning the toss and entering the crease, Bangladesh suffered an early setback. Captain Tamim Iqbal (11) and Liton Das (0) returned within three overs. Both were returned by Sam Karan. But Shanro and Mushfiqur who came together for the third wicket put together a partnership of 98 runs to get Bangladesh out. After Shanro (53 off 71 balls) was run out and Shakib came to the crease, Bangladesh thought they would get a big score, but Adil Rasheed returned Mushfiqur (70) and gave Bangladesh the reins.

Shakib kept hitting at one end but there was no one at the cage. After Mushfiqur’s return, only Afif Hossain, who scored 15 runs, crossed the double figure for Bangladesh. Shakib (75 off 71 balls) who was struggling in the 48th over was stopped by Jofra Archer to prevent Bangladesh from crossing 250.

For England Jofra Archer took three wickets for 35 runs while Sam Curran and Adil Rasheed took two wickets each. Rehan Ahmed, who played his debut match, took a wicket. England have won the first two matches and are leading the series 2-0.
