Dubai: West Indies young pacer Shamar Joseph has been awarded the International Cricket Council’s best male cricketer in the first month of the new year. Shamar deserved the award for his brilliant performance in the cricket test series once morest Australia. The player made his Test debut in the first match in Adelaide. In the first ball of the international cricket, the player who dismissed the Aussie player Steve Smith and left the field following taking five wickets for 94 runs.

Shamar Joseph was also at the helm of the team’s upset victory in the second Test in Brisbane. The player took seven wickets for 68 runs. Four of them were off the batsman’s stumps. In two Tests, Shamar took 13 wickets at an average of 17.30 and became the player of the series.

Shamar Joseph was named the ICC Player of the Month last month, beating England’s Ollie Pope and Australia’s Josh Hazelwood. After the award was introduced in January 2021, it will be the first time that a West Indian star will be honored.
