Pakistan Muslim League Awami chief, former interior minister and NA-56 Pindi candidate Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, imprisoned in Adiala Jail, has become unwell due to which he has been shifted to Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology.

In the case registered once morest the former interior minister in connection with the May 9 tragedy in the New Town police station, the anti-terrorism court canceled his interim bail, due to which he was arrested last week and brought to Adiala jail.

Sources say that Sheikh Rasheed’s health was bad for several days and yesterday also the court had requested to transfer him to the cardiology hospital, while he was transferred to the hospital this morning as his condition worsened late at night.

In this regard, the anti-terrorism court had also ordered the jail superintendent to transfer Sheikh Rasheed to the hospital. Sheikh Rashid’s nephew Sheikh Rashid Shafiq, other family members and workers have reached the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology.

Rashid Shafiq, the nephew of the former interior minister, said that Sheikh Rasheed has been arrested in two more cases registered in the Cantt and Arif Bazar police stations, while Sadaqat Abbasi has also been interrogated under the statement of 164.
