In 2025, the best-selling games on playstation 5 in North America confirmed a clear trend: players favored firearms and sports games. With digital sales, eight out of ten titles combined these themes, despite a year rich in acclaimed releases by critics.

Shots and sports games, consistently at the top

It’s not shooters, sports simulations but regulars stood out on the shooting side. Battlefield 6, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, and even GTA V (which remains popular despite its age) illustrate this trend.

These games confirm that the majority of players remain attached to known and repeatable experiences: football matches, online games, and coordinated shootouts.

Not everything is left unchanged. It’s the regulars who also stand out: Minecraft remains timeless, and Ghost of Tsushima stands out as a narrative, single-player game without a multiplayer component.
