Shortage of money; Sri Lanka local elections extended

Colombo – The Election Commission of Sri Lanka has announced that the elections to local government bodies in Sri Lanka which were to be held on the 25th have been postponed indefinitely due to the financial crisis. The election which was announced on March 9 was earlier shifted to March 25. Election Commission Summons Sri Ratnayake said that the new date should be announced only following the Treasury informs that the necessary funds have been allocated to conduct the elections.
