Shyne Announces 25th Anniversary Show & Homecoming Performance in Brooklyn

Brooklyn native Shyne is set to return to the stage in his hometown for a special performance celebrating the 25th anniversary of his groundbreaking debut album. The Belizean-born rapper and politician will perform at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 9 PM EST, marking his first headlining show ever.

The concert promises a nostalgic trip for fans of early 2000s hip-hop, revisiting the album that launched Shyne into the spotlight. Tickets proceed on sale with a pre-sale on February 12 at 10 AM EST using the code ROSE, followed by general public sales beginning Friday, February 13 at 10 AM EST. Fans can purchase tickets here.

“It is surreal to return to the stage in the neighborhood where I grew up for a night of performances celebrating classic raw hip hop,” Shyne said in a statement. The performance represents not only a musical milestone but also a full-circle moment for the artist, whose journey has taken him from the streets of Brooklyn to the political landscape of Belize.

Released on September 26, 2000, by Bad Boy Records, Shyne debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 chart and was later certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The album quickly became a defining work of the era, fueled by hit singles like “Bad Boyz” and “Bonnie & Shyne,” both featuring Barrington Levy, and “That’s Gangsta.”

Shyne’s career trajectory took an unexpected turn following his involvement in a 1999 nightclub shooting. While incarcerated, he continued to release music, including his sophomore album, Godfather Buried Alive, in 2004, which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and sold 158,000 copies in its first week, demonstrating his enduring influence even from behind bars. A reported $3 million deal with Def Jam facilitated the album’s release.

His life story, marked by both triumph and adversity, was recently chronicled in the 2024 documentary, The Honorable Shyne. The film explores his rise to fame, his legal battles, and his subsequent transition into politics, where he served as the leader of the opposition in the House of Representatives and the leader of the Belize United Democratic Party. The documentary highlights his transformation and resilience in the face of significant challenges.

This upcoming performance at Kings Theatre isn’t just a concert; it’s a homecoming and a celebration of a legacy. As News 12 Brooklyn reports, Shyne views the show as a representation of his journey and transformation, from a youth seeking help to the person he is today.

Shyne is currently working on new music, promising fans even more to look forward to in the future. The May 2nd concert offers a unique opportunity to witness a pivotal moment in his career and celebrate the enduring impact of his debut album.

What comes next for Shyne remains to be seen, but with a new album in the works and a continued presence in both music and politics, his story is far from over. Share your excitement for the concert and your favorite Shyne tracks in the comments below!
