The Swedish bearings giant, SKF, announces an investment of 50 million Swedish crowns (approximately 50 million dirhams) in a new production plant for magnetic bearings (bearings) in Tangier. This decision is said to demonstrate the company’s desire to strengthen its technical and manufacturing capacities in this rapidly expanding field.

The new website, whose activities will be gradually expanded during the second quarter, will meet the growing demand for magnetic bearings. These components play a crucial role in turbomechanics as well as other high-speed applications, including hydrogen gas liquefaction and oil-free industrial compressors.

Thomas Fröst, President of the Independent and Emerging Business Division at SKF, highlights the importance of magnetic bearings in both traditional energy sectors and emerging green industries, saying the company must maintain its position as leader in terms of technical development and customer service in this field.

Magnetic bearings are one of the key technology growth areas for SKF. In 2022, the group recorded a record order of more than one billion Swedish kronor for these products, testifying to their growing importance in the market.
