Sligro candidate for the acquisition of 11 Makro stores, including those located in Alleur and Lodelinsart

Sligro, which is already active in Belgium, has shown its interest in the 11 stores of the Metro brand. Of these 11 stores, two are located in Wallonia and one in Brussels.

According to Sligro, the next few months will make it possible to see more clearly on the feasibility of a takeover and its possible conditions.

In mid-September, Makro Cash & Carry Belgium reported that “several serious parties” had expressed interest in acquiring Metro’s activities, certain Makro activities or Makro stores.

Besides the Metro stores, Makro Cash & Carry Belgium has six Makro supermarkets in Belgium, including two in Wallonia (Lodelinsart and Alleur). In total, the group employs approximately 2,000 people.
