Snow: the situation is complicated in the province of Liège – several tens of km of queues on the E42

Heavy snowfalls are currently falling on the province of Liège. On the E42 at Polleur, traffic is at a standstill. There are currently more than 55 km of traffic jams ! (Several trucks are in trouble!). Major slowdowns are also reported in the vicinity of Verviers, Theux and Fléron.

  • Major traffic jams are reported on the E42 Battice – Prüm motorway as well as on the entire secondary network, mainly on the N3 between Bois-de-Breux and Herve where there is currently an hour’s queue in each direction.
  • The N62 is also closed at Beaufays as well as the N629 at Eupen.
  • Currently, snowfall is also reported between Namur and Liège (on the E42).

These showers will continue to rage on the heights and even down to the plains by tonight, making the roads slippery.

Avoid driving if you can!

And if you are faced with these weather conditions, follow the usual safety instructions (turn on your headlights, respect the distances between vehicles and do not apply the brakes suddenly).

A van is reported in difficulty on the E40 Aix-la-Chapelle-Liège near Thimister. The passage is difficult in the exit ramp (scissor truck)

On the side of public transport

It should also be noted that bus traffic is particularly disrupted on the eve of the weekend: no more buses on the network De Lijn does not leave the province of Limburg because of the “extreme weather conditions“said a Flemish public transport company, on Twitter.
