It is, according to a note from the National Police, the chief Isaac Bongue, 78 years old, from the village of Chilau Alunda, in the commune of Cuima, who committed suicide, this Monday, 10, in the municipality of Caála, province of Huambo, following being accused of practicing witchcraft by an alleged quimbandeiro, contacted by one of the villagers.
In the document, the National Police states that that traditional authority was unable to manage the disagreement, which ended with suicide, through a rope tied around the neck and in a tree.
The National Police regrets the incident, mainly because of the reasons why the chief of the village died.
This is the first death of its kind that has occurred this year in the province of Huambo, with over two million 700 thousand inhabitants, distributed in 11 municipalities.
