Solidarity Train to Tucumán: Donation Drive for Flood Victims | Cañuelas al Día

A 60th emergency aid train, organized by Tren Solidario, is scheduled to depart from Estación Retiro in Buenos Aires on Tuesday, March 17th, carrying donations to communities in Tucumán province devastated by recent flooding. The train will deliver aid to Lamadrid, Bella Vista, Leales and Villa Belgrano (Alberdi).

Donations are currently being accepted at Estación Retiro on Sunday, March 15th, and Monday, March 16th, between 10:00 AM and 8:00 PM. Organizers are requesting specific items to address the immediate needs of those affected.

According to Tren Solidario, urgently needed supplies include non-perishable food items, bottled water, disinfectants, cleaning supplies, and insect repellent, all packaged in transparent bags. Donations of clothing and footwear in quality condition, along with bedding, should also be bagged transparently and clearly labeled to indicate size and gender (child, woman, or man). The organization is also accepting gently used mattresses, beds, and furniture.

In addition to the collection point at Retiro station, several locations in Cañuelas and Uribelarrea are serving as donation centers. These include Súper Plaza (Alem esq. San Vicente), the Cañuelas central fire station, Ferre Vicente, Electricidad Uruguay, Panadería Welcome, Refrigeración Libertad, a private residence at Sarmiento 1064 between Paso and Azcuénaga, and a private residence in Uribelarrea at Rosenbusch 538.

Tren Solidario is prioritizing the collection of water, cleaning products, and canned food items such as paté, peas, lentils, chickpeas, mixed vegetables, and canned fish. The initiative is supported by several railway unions, including La Fraternidad, Unión Ferroviaria, UPSF, Señaleros, and APDFA, as well as Trenes Argentinos Operaciones and NCA.
