Sony would have postponed the release of one of its biggest games until 2025

According to Bloomberg, one of the biggest first-party games on the PlayStation 5 has seen its release pushed back to 2025.

Bad news for Bungie fans. According to Bloomberg, the revival of Marathon, Bungie’s oldest franchise (Halo, Destiny), has suffered a big postponement.

Expected in 2024, the game would not see the light of day before 2025. And obviously, the postponement might be linked to the dismissal of some of the teams.

No figures are communicated, but it seems that several developers who worked on this reboot of the franchise have been laid off.

The next Destiny expansion would also be impacted with a delay of several months in its release.

Note that unlike Sony’s other first party studios, Bungie is currently the only internal PlayStation studio working on a multi-media game, with Marathon also expected on PC and Xbox Series. The game is presented as a multiplayer FPS.
