With the return of good weather and warmth, many dream of being able to relax in a swimming pool. This wish will soon be granted for the inhabitants of Brussels: indeed, a new aquatic park should soon be built in the capital.
According to information from our colleagues from the VRT, the decision was confirmed on Friday. The park will be built on the site of the West Station in Molenbeek.
For the Molenbeek alderman Jef Van Damme (Vooruit), at the origin of the proposal, this subtropical swimming pool represents excellent news for the youth of Brussels: “After the closure of Océade at the Heysel (September 30, 2018, editor’s note), Brussels no longer had a single water park. And it’s really incomprehensible“, declares the Flemish socialist to the VRT.”For a city like Brussels with more than a million inhabitants, it is normal to have at least one establishment of this kind. And that’s what we’re doing now. Today, we are taking an important step in its realization“, he still rejoices.
“Some young people do not always have the possibility to go on a trip because it is too expensive. Such a subtropical swimming pool is a great way to spend a vacation in their own city“, concludes the alderman.
No opening date has yet been confirmed, but all of the work is expected to take several years.
