SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. – The University of South Dakota men’s golf team is set to compete at the Babygrande Donald Ross Collegiate, beginning Monday, March 9th and concluding on Wednesday, March 11th. The tournament will be held at the Mid Pines Golf Club in Southern Pines, North Carolina, providing a challenging test for the Coyotes as they continue their spring season.
The 54-hole tournament will feature a competitive field of 20 teams, including George Mason, VCU, James Madison, and William & Mary. The par-72 course stretches 6,657 yards, demanding precision and strategic play from all competitors. Tee times are scheduled for 8:05 a.m. EST each day, starting from Hole 1.
South Dakota will be represented by Joe Rohlwing, Shoma Taguchi, Jack Holtz, Cole Witherow, and Parker Etzel. The team is looking to build on a strong performance at the Loyola Intercollegiate, where Rohlwing secured a top-10 finish.
The Coyotes are coming off a successful showing at the Loyola Intercollegiate, where Joe Rohlwing finished 10th out of 119 golfers. Rohlwing’s consistent play included rounds of 68-71-68, totaling a 9-under-par score. He demonstrated composure and consistency, opening and closing the tournament with matching 4-under 68s. Shoma Taguchi as well delivered a solid performance, finishing at 4-under overall with rounds of 69-71-72. Cole Witherow finished at 1-over-par (73-72-72), while Jack Holtz posted rounds of 71-75-73 to finish 3-over. Parker Etzel showed improvement throughout the tournament, closing with a final-round 71.
