Corona mass tests are carried out at 184 locations in South Tyrol from Friday to Sunday. As many people as possible should be tested. Governor Arno Kompatscher (SVP) said that the aim was to break the chains of infection and avoid months of restrictions. The declared goal is to test around 70 percent of the population. Participation in the tests is voluntary and free of charge.
All people over five years of age who have no symptoms and have not previously suffered from Covid-19 are asked. Those who test positive have to go to quarantine at home. The isolation ends automatically after ten days if no symptoms of the disease occur. Around 1,500 people are expected to work on the mass tests every day.
