Special prosecutor asks court to reinstate case against Trump over classified documents

Miami, Aug 26 (EFE).- Special prosecutor Jack Smith on Monday asked a federal appeals court to reinstate the case against former U.S. President Donald Trump for mishandling classified documents, a case that was dismissed last month by a federal judge in Florida.

In a brief to the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta, Georgia, Smith said Judge Aileen Cannon’s decision to dismiss the case on the grounds that Smith’s appointment lacked constitutional authority was “without merit.”
