‘Spirit of Cricket’; Nepal wicket-keeper without dismissing a fallen batsman

by Alexandra Hartman Editor-in-Chief

The T20 match between Ireland and Nepal at the Four Nations Cricket Tournament in Oman was a rare occasion. Nepal wicketkeeper Asif Sheikh’s failure to bowl out a fallen Ireland batsman has captured the hearts of cricket fans.

In the 19th over of the match, Ireland’s McBrain hit the Nepalese bowler while he was running from the non – strike end. He was unable to reach the crease until the throw. Nepal wicketkeeper Asif Sheikh, who accepted the throw, might have easily dismissed McBrain, but the wicket was turned down.

His colleagues also praised Asif’s decision. Ireland won the match by 16 runs. Batting first, Ireland scored 127 while Nepal were bowled out for 111 in the allotted overs.
