In connection with its virtual event Stream On, Spotify announced that the world’s leading music streaming service now has its own hi-fi mode, Spotify Hifi.
Spotify Hifi promises to deliver music in lossless CD quality that will give listeners a richer, deeper and clearer music experience than before. At present, Spotify offers a maximum sound quality of 320kbps.
The new mode will be released later this year in selected markets. So far, it is unclear what Spotify Hifi will cost.
Spotify’s competitors Tidal and Amazon Music already have their own hi-fi modes. In both cases, these cost slightly more than the standard accounts of the services.
