You may not have known about it but last night there was a livestream dedicated to the Mana franchise to celebrate its 30th anniversary. For example, we have learned the arrival on mobile of Trials of Mana but also that a new episode was in development. The series will not only be content with video games and will attack the small screen with a anime Legend of Mana: The Teardrop Crystal. Eh yes.
An anime in the Legend of Mana universe
Square Enix has therefore formalized an animation series for Legend of Mana titled The Teardrop Crystal. For now, apart from a official site, and some details, we do not know much. We learn all the same that it will be produced by Warner Bros. Japan and animated by Graphinica (Muv-Luv Alternative, Hello World, Juni Taisen: Zodiac War) in collaboration with Yokohama Animation Lab (Lapis Re: Lights, Magatsu Wahrheit -Zuerst-, Miru Tights).
The franchise producer Where, Masaru Oyamada, however, said that the animation project was presented very early on, since the remaster of Legend of Mana (just out) was not even in discussion. He also explains that when he attended the meeting where the project was presented to him, he had gone without necessarily being excited, but that “When Mr. Yawata of Warner Bros. Japan passionately presented the Legend of Mana animation project with so much love, I realized that I had to create the game as soon as possible ”.
The craze was therefore created around this table and Oyamada-san implies that this is how the remaster was born. He ends by reassuring the community: “Legend of Mana fans, rest assured. The people involved in the project still have the same love for the series as they did back then ”.
We can therefore place some hopes in this production. For now, the anime Legend of Mana: The Teardrop Crystal does not yet have a release date. We also do not know on which Japanese channels it will be broadcast, even if we imagine that Tokyo MX, BS11 or why not MBS will be involved. Fingers crossed that it arrives in Europe via one of the legal streaming platforms.
