THE latest Netflix Indonesian original film by renowned director Edwin, ‘Kabut Berduri’ will air starting August 1, 2024. Co-produced with Palari Films, this crime-thriller investigative film reunites the director with lead actress Putri Marino following the two collaborated on the film Posesif.
In the film Posesif, Putri Marino managed to win her first Citra Cup at the Indonesian Film Festival (FFI). She won the Citra Cup for best female lead. Meanwhile, in the film, Edwin also won the Citra Cup at the FFI for best director.
This also adds to Putri Marino’s filmography with Netflix. She previously starred in another Netflix Indonesia original film, The Big 4, which was included in the top global non-English language films. Putri also starred in the Netflix Indonesia original series, Gadis Kretek, which became a phenomenon.
Mist of Thorns tells the story of a detective who is forced to confront his past as he investigates a mysterious serial murder case on the border between Indonesia and Malaysia.
The film combines elements of intense crime investigation with deep exploration of social issues. Filming locations include several areas in Kalimantan.
Apart from Putri Marino, Thorny Mist also stars a number of famous actors, Yoga Pratama, Lukman Sardi, Yudi Ahmad Tajudin, Yusuf Mahardika, Iedil Dzuhrie Alaudin, Kiki Narendra, Siti Fauziah, and Sita Nursanti.
Edwin has won a number of international awards, such as the Golden Leopard at the 2021 Locarno Film Festival for the film Seperti Dendam, Rindu Harus Dibayar Tuntas, as well as best director and best adapted screenwriter at the 2022 Indonesian Film Festival (FFI) for the film Seperti Dendam, Rindu Harus Dibayar Tuntas.
