State of emergency in Ethiopia: NGOs denounce abuses against civilians

Ethiopian lawmakers have approved a state of emergency in Amhara. It had been decreed at the beginning of August because of the fighting between the federal army and the nationalist militias. At least 26 people were killed this Sunday in an airstrike.

South Africa is sadly known for its high crime rate. The authorities are seeing the addition of a new type of crime: kidnappings for ransom. In 2022, an average of 44 kidnappings per day were reported.

The new prepaid meters are not unanimous in Senegal. With them, citizens were supposed to better understand their electricity consumption and save money, but bills are rising. Associations are stepping up to demand lower prices.
