State Secretary Mayer on the death of Ilse Tielsch

Vienna (OTS) “Ilse Tielsch was an important voice for reconciliation and international understanding. Her work has lost none of its topicality, as it addresses the issues of migration, flight and expulsion, which are still relevant today. In her stories, poems and novels, Ilse Tielsch, herself an exile from South Moravia, repeatedly reminds people of the right to a home and peace. A painful and always valid demand and task in our time,” said Andrea Mayer, Secretary of State for Art and Culture.

Ilse Tielsch was awarded, among other things, the Austrian Cross of Honor for Science and Art.
