Vienna (OTS) – “With producer, director and author Kurt Mayer, we are losing a central figure in the domestic documentary film scene, a citizen whose view of the world always remained deeply intellectual. Mayer produced numerous TV documentaries on contemporary historical topics, but also artistic works for the screen regarding Willi Resetarits and Ilse Aichinger. His original and Viennese perspectives on the Alpine republic range from proportionality to striking and socially shaping events in the history of our country. Just a few weeks ago, Mayer appeared as an expert at the Vienna Doku Day in the Metro Kinokulturhaus and, in view of technical developments such as AI, warned once morest the triumph of lies in documentary films. His plea for journalistic care and high quality standards can still be heard. My condolences go out in particular to his family, his friends and his numerous companions,” said State Secretary for Art and Culture Andrea Mayer.
