Stay Weather-Informed: Track the Low Pressure System and Upcoming Heatwave in the Benelux Region

2023-09-18 12:16:00

“Currently, there is an area of low pressure between Iceland and the British Isles,” explains Nicolas Roose, meteorologist for NoodweerBenelux, interviewed by Nieuwsblad. “This means that there is an increased risk of wind and rain from the Atlantic towards the Benelux.”

However, the mercury should rise once more next week. “Both weather models, American and European, affirm it: following the weekend, the weather pattern becomes more stable, with drier and warmer weather, and temperatures between 20 and 25 degrees,” adds Nicolas Roose .

“According to a recent study by the KNMI (editor’s note, the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute), the month of September is starting to show more characteristics of the month of June, so that it is no longer really exceptional to see temperatures this high, even a one-off surge of 25 or 30 degrees. A heat wave like the one at the beginning of September is another story,” concludes the meteorologist.
