Steven Benoît resigns as Premier of the Montana Accord

Resignation this Monday, January 30, of the elected prime minister of the Montana Accord, former senator Steven Benoît. He said he made this decision to facilitate negotiations between the actors in order to find a national consensus.

Port-au-Prince, January 30, 2023.- In a correspondence addressed to the president of the National Transitional Council (CNT), James Beltis, this Monday, January 30, 2023, the former parliamentarian underlines that this decision does not reflect a divorce between him and the Montana Accord.

However, he calls on the elected president of the said Agreement, Fritz Alphonse Jean to continue to increase the number of consultation meetings in order to reach a political agreement.

Further on, during an interview with Radio Kiskeya on Monday followingnoon, Steven Benoît called on Prime Minister Ariel Henry to resign in order to facilitate a resolution to the crisis.
