Stewards give no punishment after collision between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton: “Not clear who was guilty” – F1journaal.be

After the spectacular collision between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen during the Hungarian GP, the stewards decided to launch an investigation into the incident. Ultimately, however, they decided not to impose a penalty.

Was there a culprit for the collision between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton when Verstappen tried to overtake Lewis Hamilton in the first corner of the circuit. Max Verstappen braked very late in the braking zone but he also thought that Lewis Hamilton moved in the braking zone.

However, after their investigation, the stewards decided that neither driver was largely to blame for the collision. The stewards did not agree with Verstappen that Lewis Hamilton had ‘moved under braking’ but they did find that Hamilton could have done more to avoid the collision.

However, they also felt that neither driver was clearly and largely responsible for the crash, and therefore no penalty was ultimately given.
