Strike of controllers at Paris-Orly Airport: 50% drop in flights on Saturday

ALGIERS – Flights of the national airline, Air Algérie, from and to Paris-Orly Airport (France), will experience a 50% drop on Saturday, due to a strike by air traffic controllers at the level of this infrastructure, indicates company spokesperson Amine Andaloussi.

“Following strikes started on Saturday by air traffic controllers at Paris-Orly Airport, the French Civil Aviation Authority (DGAC) has recommended that we reduce our traffic to and from this airport by 50% today. , Saturday”, explained to APS Mr. Andaloussi.

To this end, two Air Algérie flights, bound for Paris-Orly, from Algiers, will be canceled this evening, namely flight AH-1008 and flight AH 1010, he said.

However, to minimize the impact of this case of “force majeure”, he adds, Air Algérie has decided to “dispatch, this evening, a high-capacity aircraft to ensure the movement of its customers from Paris-Orly to Alger”.

It should be noted that one out of two flights departing from or arriving at Paris-Orly airport was canceled on Saturday followingnoon due to unplanned individual strikes by air traffic controllers once morest the pension reform, while that the unions had not called for a stoppage of work.

“Given the observation of a certain number of strikers at the Orly air navigation organization”, the DGAC “asked the airlines to reduce their flight schedule by 50% from 1:00 p.m. for the day” , she announced in a press release.

The DGAC invited “passengers who can do so to postpone their trip and to inquire with their airline to find out the status of their flight”.
