SÃO PAULO – The “most Japanese” Nissan Frontier in Brazil has just made its debut at the brand’s stand at the São Paulo Japan Festival, which opened its doors to the public this Friday, July 7th. On the occasion, design student Eric Lauredo Belfort Wolter, from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), had the opportunity to see his project applied to a real unit of the pickup truck. John Sahs, chief designer of Nissan Latin America, was present at the student’s encounter with his “art”.

“This year’s contest brought an extra challenge to the students: to combine Japanese culture and the modernity of Nissan’s DNA with the robust, reliable and imposing design of the Nissan Frontier. Eric’s project was able to translate this by mixing traditional Japanese elements with a street art style, bringing not only the richness of Japanese tradition, but also a contemporary feel to our truck”, adds John.

Eric was the big winner of the “Nissan Frontier Graphic Design Academic Contest”, held by Nissan do Brasil with the objective of finding the most Japanese painting for his pickup truck.

“I was thrilled to see my project come to life at the Nissan Frontier. I love being willing to try new things. The face contest was a big challenge, but it was also really fun to be able to experiment and apply my ideas on a screen a little different than usual”, explains the student.

The special painting for Frontier uses various icons of Japanese culture in a contemporary style and associated with the famous painting “The Great Wave”, by the Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai, which represents the arrival of immigrants from Japan to Brazil.

In addition to the Nissan Frontier with the “most Japanese” livery that won the design competition, visitors to the Nissan stand at the event will be able to discover the brand’s entire line of products, such as the Nissan Kicks crossover, the New Nissan Sentra and the newly -Launched New Nissan Versa.

Thanks to its unique bidirectional charging capability, the 100% electric Nissan LEAF model is supplying energy to a “GIF machine”, an attraction where visitors can produce their personalized videos.
