Tuesday evening, Philippe Fournier, mayor of Gergy, and Sophie Pétrel, deputy community life and social action, received the actors of the two days organized for the benefit of research: Pink October and Movember. These days were beneficial in terms of the donations collected, but also the significant mobilization of participants. The result made it possible to donate significant sums to the associations. Pink October (breast cancer screening awareness month) brought in €1,164. An amount divided between three associations (€388 each): the League Against Cancer chaired by Thérèse Bessette, Always a Woman chaired by Claudine Deléaz, and Cora Saône chaired by Danielle Dufau.
A welcome legacy
For Operation Movember (a charity event intended to inform the general public regarding male illnesses), the sum of €1,690 was donated to the League Against Cancer. The opportunity for Thérèse Bessette to announce some good news: “After 22 years of presence within the League, we will finally have premises at the beginning of 2024 following a legacy, at 10 rue de Thiard. We will be able to meet in premises without having to request a room each time for our meetings and meetings. »
