Patna ∙ RJD-JDU relationship is faltering in Nitish Kumar’s grand coalition government. With the resignation of RJD minister Sudhakar Singh, who clashed with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the problems in the front are getting worse. Sudhakar Singh is the second RJD minister to resign from Nitish’s cabinet.
Sudhakar is the son of RJD president Lalu Yadav’s confidant and state president Jagadananda Singh. Jagadananda Singh’s statement that Nitish Kumar will hand over the post of Chief Minister to Tejaswi next year was controversial. Sudhakar Singh created a headache for the Chief Minister by continuously criticizing corruption in government offices.
Sudhakar also called upon the people to beat the corrupt officials. Agriculture Minister Sudhakar himself criticized the Nitish government’s agriculture policy and created controversies. Nitish Kumar had to press the RJD leadership for Sudhakar Singh’s resignation. Sudhakar Singh submitted his resignation letter to Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav.
The JD(U) leadership also has doubts that RJD ministers are planning to continuously create problems for Nitish Kumar. Karthika Kumar, accused in the kidnapping case, was the first to resign from Nitish’s cabinet. Karthik Kumar was sworn in as a minister on the day he was to surrender to the court in the case. Although the case was controversial, Karthik Kumar was not ready to resign. RJD leadership did not demand resignation. The resignation came following Chief Minister Nitish Kumar transferred Karthik Kumar to the non-important sugarcane department.
