SUMAR in Cordillera: teachers and parents are trained in preventing the impact of drugs

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The National Anti-Drug Secretariat (Senad) reports that around 330 teachers and parents from the cities of Nueva Colombia and Arroyos y Esteros were trained by technical professionals from the Comprehensive Prevention Area, within the framework of the SUMAR Action Plan against Drug Abuse.

Through the awareness workshop called “Concerned Parents Who Take Care,” 96 parents received the tools to identify children’s behavior at the right time and in turn avoid problems related to drug use.

Within this framework, 234 directors and teachers from the 43 educational institutions that adhere to preventive tasks were trained.

The training sessions were carried out through inter-institutional coordination between the Technical Pedagogical Support Supervisions of Educational Areas 03-16, 03-21 and 03-23 together with Senad.

Preventive actions culminated in the certification of 36 schools and colleges as “Preventive School Spaces.” These institutions are working to develop preventive policies and promote strategies focused on building and consolidating drug use prevention.
