Following the concerns expressed by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights on April 06 on the “restrictions imposed” on the media and civic space in Burkina Faso, the government indicated this Thursday April 20 in a press release “be aware of the issues related to the preservation of civic and democratic space in the consolidation of the achievements of actions to combat terrorism and the strengthening of cohesion between communities”.

With regard to the allegations of human rights violations that would be attributable to the Defense and Security Forces, the government press release assures that “there will be no impunity for the proven perpetrators of human rights violations in Burkina faso”.

The text also specifies that investigations are being opened and that the conclusions will lead, “if the facts are established”, to legal proceedings once morest the accused.
