The Supreme Court reversed the judgment of the Valparaíso Court of Appeals that prohibited the Carabineros the use of pellets during demonstrations.
This decision was made after merchants from the port city filed an appeal for protection for the constant acts of violence of which they have been victims.
The cause began at the end of 2019, after the constant protests that took place in the center of the city of Valparaíso. These facts motivated that a total of 15 appeals were filed against the uniformed institution to avoid the use of dissuasive weapons.
