Several witnesses pressed our orange button Alert us this Saturday at the end of the followingnoon, in question: a column of smoke visible on the side of Chatelineau.
Contacted by us, the spokesperson for the Hainaut-Est rescue zone tells us that a fire broke out in the fields at rue des Sarts. Two complete departures of firefighters were sent to the scene, one from the Jumet barracks, the other from Marcinelle.
The firefighters arrived just in time: the flames surrounded a house which was near the fields. The fire charred the hedges of the house. The emergency services managed to evacuate the inhabitants and control the fire in extremis, before it spread to the house.
No injuries are reported. Several streets were blocked during the rescue operation.
