Rishikesh, India – In a major breakthrough, the Laxman Jhula police station has arrested five members of the notorious Mewati gang, including four women. The gang was caught in possession of half a dozen gold chains worth Rs 7.5 lakh, which they had allegedly stolen from women during a satsang at Geeta Bhavan a few days ago.

All the accused have been sent to jail following a court order. The case was disclosed by Police Captain Lokeshwar Singh, who stated that the gang members are from Faridabad, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh. The identified members include Sushma, Preeti, Reena, Rashmi, and an advocate. The police received a complaint from a victim, which led to the registration of a case and subsequent investigation.

The gang is known for targeting crowded areas, particularly during religious gatherings. They would seize the opportunity to snatch gold chains from women’s necks. During interrogation, the gang members revealed that they had targeted around half a dozen women during the satsang at Geeta Bhavan.

The police team has been rewarded Rs 10,000 for this significant arrest. The investigation is ongoing, and the police have initiated advanced actions to ensure the safety of the public.
