The President of the Somali Athletics Federation was suspended following a video spread showing Nasra Abubakar Ali, a beginner runner, in an international competition in China. Ali finished the 100-meter race in last place, more than eight seconds behind the second last runner.
The Somali Ministry of Youth and Sports investigated the matter and said that Mrs. Khadija Aden Dahir, the head of the Somali Athletics Foundation, was suspended for “abuse of power, nepotism and defamation of the nation on the international stage.”
