The Police College made up of the mayors of Mons and Quévy, Nicolas Martin and Florence Lecompte, met on Saturday and decided to suspend by order the head of the ZP Mons-Quévy, Jean-Hubert Nicolay, indicated the local authorities in a press release.

“This suspension follows the mayors becoming aware, in the middle of the week, of a legal proceeding in which Jean-Hubert Nicolay is summoned to appear on several charges. The suspension takes effect today for a renewable period of four months,” the Police College authorities clarified on Saturday.

A procedure for suspending the order once morest the commander had been initiated by the Police College, following the road accident of Jean-Hubert Nicolay, which occurred on the night of March 11 near Asquillies (Quévy). The head of the unit had, moreover, informed the president of the police zone that he was summoned to appear on several charges before the Mons criminal court.

Divisional commissioner Bruno Lheureux, currently operational director, has been designated acting head of the unit. Commissioner Pierre Vanbokstal, currently deputy in the public order department, will serve as operational director within the police zone.
