Svitolina Fell Out in Round of 16 at 2024 Olympics

Olympics 2024, Tennis, Round 3, Women

Svitolina – Krejcikova – 1:2 (6:7, 6:2, 4:6)

The Ukrainian started off well, leading 3:0 with a break. However, the Czech tennis player managed to get back into the game with two breaks from Svetolina. The latter also got two breaks, so the set went into a tie-break.

There the scenario repeated itself. Svitolina made a quality debut (3:0), but allowed Krejcikova to recoup and take the lead with five points in a row. The Ukrainian tennis player managed to equalize the score (5:5), but the Czech closed the set in her favor.

In the second set, Svitolina made a bid for success in the third game, having made a break. Then she concentrated on her own serves, and in the seventh game she took Krejcikova’s serve again. And immediately the Ukrainian “to zero” served and transferred the match to the third set.

In the final set, Svitolina got a strategic advantage at the start (2:0). However, the Czech tennis player responded with three points in a row. Krejcikova’s progress was not stopped by an injury, which forced her to take a medical time-out. The Ukrainian tennis player got a break at 3:5, but unexpectedly lost her own set and finished the tournament.
