SYDNEY, AUGUST 19 / WAM / The Swedish national team won third place in the 2023 FIFA World Cup for Women, by defeating its Australian counterpart 2-0 today, Saturday, in the match to determine the third and fourth places in the tournament, which is currently being held in Australia and New Zealand.
This is the fourth time that the Swedish national team has achieved third place in the Women’s World Cup, following the 1991, 2011 and 2019 editions.
The Swedish national team finished the first half in their favor with a clean goal scored by Fridolina Rulfo from a penalty kick in the 30th minute.
In the second half, the team consolidated its victory with a second goal scored by Kosovar Aslani in the 62nd minute.
