Swedish Prime Minister Wolf Christersson is visiting the United States to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
On the 1st local time, the White House of the United States said, “President Joe Biden looks forward to welcoming Prime Minister Kristersson at the White House on the 5th to strengthen close ties with Sweden.”
“The two leaders will review increasing security cooperation and reaffirm the view that Sweden should join NATO as soon as possible,” the White House said.
The White House also added that it “discussed a shared commitment to support Ukraine in the face of Russia’s brutal war of aggression and to strengthen Atlantic countries’ cooperation with China.”
Sweden has applied for NATO membership since the war in Ukraine, but it has not progressed due to opposition from Turkey.
