Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek celebrates his success in winning the Indian Wells tournament with Hollywood actress Zendaya. Since becoming the world’s number one tennis player in the last two years, Swiatek has become accustomed to hanging out with celebrities, including Zendaya.
Zendaya and actor boyfriend Tom Holland were in the crowd at Sunday’s final as Swiatek beat Maria Sakkari 6-4, 6-0 to win the prestigious Indian Wells WTA title for the second time.
After the match, Zendaya took a photo with Swiatek and the trophy. “Of course meeting Zendaya was amazing, but on the other hand, she’s human like the rest of us,” Swiatek said of the “Dune” star, who is also the star of “Challengers,” the soon-to-be-released tennis-themed film.
In the film, Zendaya plays a former tennis player who becomes a coach. “I’m happy that he enjoys tennis and that he’s, you know, going to release a tennis-themed film,” Swiatek said.
“So that should be a lot of fun. “She can train with me anytime if she wants,” joked Swiatek.
Although Swiatek sounded far from impressed, she admitted she was happy to have had the opportunity to meet the actress.
“For sure it’s fun and he’s a really great person,” Swiatek said. “I feel very honored to be in a place where I can meet people like this.” (AFP/M-3)
